...a new word for an ancient product
The neologism AGRUMATO®, created by Francesco G. Maria Ricci in 1989, is a registered trademark and was created not only to identify the productions of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and citrus products designed and created in 1989 by the Ricci family of Lanciano, but also to define the brand’s namesake.
It all stemmed from Lemon Oil-which was a custom at the end of the oil campaign. Lemon Oil, known to very few millers in Abruzzo, involved adding fresh lemons to the fiscoli at the end of the oil campaign. This process served to degrease these and keep the machine clean.
This custom would have permanently disappeared if it had not been for the insight and passion of the Ricci Brothers, who first understood the extraordinary potential of this product, which has been offered by the Ricci family‘s AGRUMATO® Oil for more than 30 years .
A product, fine-tuned by Francesco and Lino Ricci, thanks to years of research on production methods, which made it possible to define a production protocol, original and exclusive, which today is held by the Ricci family of Lanciano.
The two brothers, did not stop at lemon oil and guided by their creativity, and desire for innovation, were the first ever, to use the other citrus fruits of our Mediterranean production making a complete line of these extraordinary seasonings based on Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Citrus Fruit.
